Aikido is a newer martial art. It has been made famous in film through Steven Seagal.
In Aikido, the idea is to neutralize an attack - verbal or physical - rather than to decimate the attacker. To watch a skilled practitioner is to watch effortless grace and dance in motion. You see the move, the person falls or yelps, and you sit in disbelief with brows knitted wondering what you've just seen. It is over in seconds.
Roy Y. Suenaka studied directly under the Chief Instructor of Aikido and then its founder. Scott Hager Shihan studied under Sensei Suenaka for 18 years. When he left he was one of the four highest ranking practitioners in the style. He is currently the highest ranking person in the Kishinkai (New Mind/Heart) Style, and a Technical Advisor in Aikido for the Associated Schools of Martial Arts, which is recognized internationally for its excellence in martial arts.
